Friday’s Feature: Nadia D Photography

I don’t know about you but I can’t get enough of photographers. There is something about pictures that speaks volumes to me – it’s a glimpse into another persons life from the eyes of someone else.

I recently came across a photographer that made me want to stare at their work – not in a creepy way guys, geez. Nadia D Photography caught my attention because the work is unique and oh-so-captivating. I love everything about these pictures. The darkness, the softness and the perfect lighting – I’m in love!

You know I have an obsession with dark pictures

Love this

Um.. LOVE!

How can a couple near lampost and on a bench look so amazing?

DIY: Mehendi Makeup

Prior to the wedding, I was debating on doing my own mehendi makeup versus getting it done professionally. The closer we got to the day of the wedding, the more sure I was that I wanted to do it myself. I wanted to keep my makeup simple but also stand out just enough that I didn’t look washed out in pictures. Here’s what I did:

  • Moisturizer: I don’t use a moisturizer, instead I use grapeseed oil for my face. Hence, as usual, I moisturized my face using my grapeseed oil. Whatever you do, don’t try out something new on your wedding day – you don’t know how your skin will react to it. NOW Grapeseed Oil ~ $6.99
  • Primer: I don’t use primer often but I figured my mehendi day is one day I should. I had a free sample from Smashbox so I used that on the mehendi (retails for $44) but Rimmel is my go-to primer ~ $10
  • Foundation: I had wanted to test out a different foundation prior to the wedding but I didn’t get a chance. I had decided to finalize all my makeup/skin regimes 3 months prior to the wedding – that way my skin would not be experiencing anything new too close to the wedding. So, I stuck to my Revlon Colourstay foundation ~ $14.99
  • Eyeliner: I wore a green outfit and a green eyeliner to compliment it. I love green and blue eyeliners! Rimmel Kohl ~ $2ish at Walmart. I also used a gold eyeshadow just over my lid but I don’t remember the brand. It might have been Sephora.
  • Blush: Pink Cheek Glow by NYC Colour Wheel ~ $4.97
  • Lipstick: Schiap by NARS for a pop of colour ~ $25

Would you consider DIY makeup for your big day(s)?

Bridal Jewellery: Nuts for Naths

Do you remember when I was contemplating on wearing a nath or not to the wedding? Some of you asked what I did, and the answer is: I wore a nath!

On the day of the wedding, I had still not decided on wearing a nath. I was leaning towards a yes but then I’d have moments where I’d turn a 360 and be a firm NO. Once I was done my hair and makeup, I told my makeup artist that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to wear it. She held it against my face and my mom and sisters started squealing with delight – and so the decision was made!

I am SO glad I wore it!

If you’re on the fence about wearing a nath, I would advise you to GO FOR IT!

Friday’s Feature: Kolaveri Di Dance By The Hulla Gulla Boys

I have received a few messages from you guys asking me to post more pictures and videos from our wedding. SO, here I am – posting a dance video from our mehendi.

This dance was done by the Hulla Gulla Boys with a special appearance by Nouman! I had no idea that he would do a choreographed dance at the mehendi – although I should have known because he loves to dance. Before Gangnam Style hit our airwaves, everybody was enjoying the tunes to Kolaveri Di. Sit back, relax and enjoy the Hulla Gulla Boys version of Kolaveri Di!

 Have a good weekend!

PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week 2012: Asifa and Nabeel

Post deux!

I like the style of the shirt

Somebody please give me yellow!

I want to try on shalwar kameez that have the “coatee” (shrug)

I love this

Pretty!

PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week: HSY and Adnan Pardesy

Okay, I’m breaking protocol today and will be posting TWICE today. Yup, twice! The reason is simply because I couldn’t decide what to post today and waiting for tomorrow just seemed way too far. I might also be posting these because I want to cover all the designers before the end of this week – but shhh!

Both of the posts are picture heavy and hopefully inspirational for all you brides-to-be!

HSY:

The colour is so vibrant and rich

I’m not a fan of the colour combination but the orange on its own is lovely

The neckline and sleeves are so unique!

I.LOVE.This.

I can’t decide what I think of the middle outfit – it seems a bit much. On the other hand, the yellow chooridar totally stole my attention!

And now, it’s time to drool over the most stunning outfit by Adnan Pardesy! This was their first bridal show – although the collection was weak, I loved the below piece. It was unique, elaborate and simply exquisite.

Beautiful

Stay tuned for my second post in the afternoon!

PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week 2012: Fahad Hussayn

Although I love Fahad Hussayn’s work, I was a little disappointed when I saw his collection. No one piece stood out for me – which is a surprise because I really liked the sneak peeks of his Laaj Nagar Collection!

That’s a pretty ‘meh’ outfit if you ask me

I like this

I love the yellow. I want lots of yellow.

How stunning is this?

What are your thoughts?

PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week 2012: Elan

It’s time to indulge our eyes with bridal fashion. YEAY! I’ll post a roundup of the highlights from the show but for now, here is one of my favourite new designers. I have come to love Elan’s collection.

Love the colours on this one

Pretty colours but I’m not loving the neckline – a little unflattering

How hot is the back? Too bad it’s way revealing for me!

Intricate! The colours and kaam remind me a little of Sana Safinaz

Simply elegant

Love it or seen the same thing too many times? Tell me what you think!

Friday’s Feature: Sara Baig Designs

Over the past few weeks, I have featured numerous couples on Friday. I thought I’d switch gears and highlight a multi-talented individual today!

While searching for a decorator for my wedding, I came across Sara Baig Designs. Sara Baig does design and event planning – be it a wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, anniversary, birthday or any other special moment.

Although I did like SBD’s work online, I really fell in love when I saw her work at a family friends wedding. Her work exudes beautiful simplicity, elegance and modern chic. I have seen Sara Baig’s work numerous times now and I have always been blown away by the classiness.

I had the opportunity to meet Sara Baig at the Civilized Bride Show  – she is sweet, down to earth, and easy to talk to. Her personal style reflected that of her work – simple, elegant and oh-so-polished.
