Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2012 – Day 1

Ooh yeah – it’s time to drool over pictures from Bridal Couture Week! YEAY!

Day 1 – slightly disappointing although I did like some pieces :) While I did like Nomi Ansari’s collection the most, I thought some of the outfits were redundant from last years BCW.

Pakistan Fashion Week 3: Day 3

I had a bad day yesterday – I ended up crying out of frustration and disappointment in myself. Remember how I always emphasize on paying very close attention to your contracts, reading and re-reading everything and making sure everything makes sense? Well, I screwed up. The one contract that I didn’t read properly is biting me in the bum. I signed this contract one day before I left for Pakistan (and on Eid), so I didn’t pay attention to everything. Now, I’ve realized that I’ll be paying my entire balance before my wedding – for services that I’ll be receiving ON the day of the wedding. While it may not be a big deal to some people, I would’ve preferred to keep a small balance for the last day of the wedding – which gives me some leverage incase something goes wrong.

I didn’t read the contract, so it’s my own fault. But the reaction of the vendor totally surprised and annoyed me. A classic situation of “it’s not what he said, it’s how he said it.”

Blah.

I still do trust my vendor and they totally understand my vision – so I’m hoping for the best InshAllah.

Anyway… back to Pakistan Fashion Week!

In terms of fashion week, I definitely like Day 3 the best – there was alot more variety in style and cuts. However, I can’t help but be biased towards bridal fashion – I love collections with bridal wear. But hey, there’s Bridal Fashion Week for that :)

Fashion Pakistan Week 3: Day 2

I definitely liked Day 2 better than Day 1. However, I think Pakistani designers are very confused and seem confused about what a Fashion Week should be.

While Bunto Kazmi and Umar Sayeed are among my favourite Pakistani designers (I LOVE Bunto Kazmi!), I did not see their collection fit to be at the Fashion Week. Both collections seem better suited for Bridal Fashion Week. Having said that, I do love their pieces – they were just out of place.

I LOVED Shehla Chatoor’s collection – definitely one of my favourites of Day 2

Ayesha & Somaya - ok so I'm in love with this model. I would marry her. She's so gorgeous

Pakistani Fashion Trends: Bridal Jewellery

I’ve been wanting to blog about this Pakistani Bridal Trend for a while and finally got the time to do so today.

We all know that Pakistani/Indian/South Asian brides wear alot of jewellery, but have any of you seen the trend of wearing necklaces as headpieces? I’ve seen alot of it on the runway, but lately I’m finding more and more real brides wearing this trend.

For the most part, I do like the look… although I think you have to be a really confident bride to pull it off!

Yes, those are necklaces! What do you think?

PFDC L’Oreal Bridal Week: Day 3

Asifa and Nabeel – Ottoman Royalty Collection

Inspired by sultans jewels, throne and armors made of diamonds, precious gems and stones. I’m really liking the colours of this collection.

Twirllyyy

Gawjus colour - I'm loving the nudes!

I love this colour! SO gorgeous!!

Ali Xeeshan – Pahalgam

Pahalgam is the name of a Kashmiri City– the collection includes kashmiri kurtas, bridal shawls and lehengas. The city’s simplicity and beauty inspired Ali Xeeshan to create this collection.

Ummm... is that aluminum foil?

Ummm... yeah.

Sara Rohale Asghar – Tehzeeb-e-Baymisaal

The objective of this collection is to display outfits that are suitable for a wide range of wedding ceremonies – mehendi, shaadi and valima. I really, really, really like some of the pieces!

I really like this colour combination

Pretty colour - if you can dare to wear this colour, you totally should!

Rouge

This collection, a contemporary fusion, is a tribute to Memoona Manan. It’s inspired by Memoona’s favourite colours with some pieces creating a vintage look.

Stay tuned for Day 4 images! :)

PFDC L’Oreal Bridal Week: Day Two

Day 2 features the following designers:

Maria B – From Paris to Lahore

The collection is a combination of French/Western and Eastern outfits. The French elements are showcased by the soft colour palette and the feminine cuts. The latter exudes colour and extravagance. I really like the colours and headpieces in this collection!

I really like this colour combination

Love the headpiece and the soft colour - I think it's a gorgeous colour for Valima

Anyone remember this outfit? It's the same outfit Maria B wore to her wedding this past summer! p.s. love the headpiece

I don't know about you guys, but I think that dude is prettyyy hot!

Fahad Hussayn – Raat Raakh

Fahad Hussayn’s collection is inspired by the tale of a night traveler; a bride who has lost her love and is seeking another. I love the dark colours – I am an absolute sucker for darker/deeper shades.

Black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yelllowww

Pakistan Fashion Week 2011: Karma

I am exhausted. I had a really busy week followed by a busier weekend. Today? Just as busy.
Add my inability to sleep for the past 2 weeks to the mix, and we’ve got a chaotic and slightly whacko Shaza :)

Anyway, somebody asked me if I had a chance to look at Day 2 of Pakistan Fashion Week, and yes I did!

Karma’s collection showcased a large number of mini-skirts and Victorian themed dresses. All the outfits were very feminine; floral patterns, jewels, pretty pinks, flowery headpieces and jewelery – the whole deal. I personally wasn’t too impressed with the style, although some pieces did jump out at me.

Have a look at some of the pictures below to get an idea.

Karma @ Pakistan Fashion Week 2011

I do like the second outfit, although it isn’t very innovative or different than the usual Karma outfits.

Pakistan Fashion Week 2011

It’s Saturday morning and I’m sitting on my couch waiting for the rest of the gang to wake up. I tried studying but wasn’t in the mood and ofcourse there’s absolutely nothing good coming on the TV at this time, so I thought I’d blog!

The 2011 Pakistan Fashion Week started off earlier this week – time to check out new trends!

Highlights:

  • Kameez Length: are getting shorter – although many designers still had the long shirts, some displayed knee-length shirts aswell. Have a look at the outfits by Nickie and Nina below. Some of their chooridars were even slightly above the knee – which is a long way away from the past/current trend of looong shirts with chooridars.

  • Colour: there was a range of colour showcased at the fashion shows. While some designers opted for the rock/edgy feel by choosing blacks and metallics, others went for bold and bright. Check out the picture below for Sublime by Sara’s collection.

  • Cuts and Shapes: Although the overall silhoutte is slightly more fitted than what we have seen in the past year, the flowy-ness is still in. Yeay! So girls, we can look pretty and still eat those buffets.

It will be interesting to see how these translate into Pakistani bridal fashion!
